SUMMARY:Self-Care Summer Day Camp for Teens (June 29-July 2)
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nFour days of art\, yoga\, journaling\, collage\, and more for your teen to learn and practice life-long self-care strategies \nWelcome to the Self-Care Summer Day Camp for Teens! \nMonday June 29 — Thursday July 2\, 9am-12pm\n5200 Willson Rd.\, Edina \nHelp Your Teen Build Lifelong Self-Care Skills \nImagine if your teen began developing real self-care habits now\, rather than waiting until adulthood when stress\, burnout\, and anxiety are already overwhelming. \nAt the Teen Forward Self-Care Summer Day Camp\, teens will spend four mornings learning and practicing simple\, powerful strategies that support emotional health\, confidence\, and resilience. \nThis is not just a camp where teens talk about self-care — they experience it. \nEach day includes hands-on activities and guided experiences such as: \n✨ Creative art projects\n🧘 Gentle yoga and movement\n📓 Reflective journaling\n🎨 Collage and creative expression\n🧠 Mindfulness and grounding practices\n💬 Conversations about stress\, identity\, and balance \nEvery day your teen will learn at least two practical self-care strategies and practice them in a supportive\, judgment-free environment. \nWhether your teen is brand new to self-care or already enjoys activities like yoga\, art\, or journaling\, they will benefit from this dedicated time to slow down\, reflect\, and build skills that support their well-being. \nWhy Self-Care Matters for Teens\nToday’s teens are navigating an unprecedented level of pressure and stimulation. Research shows: \nStress & Anxiety\nAbout 70% of teens report stress as a significant issue in their lives (American Psychological Association). \nMental Health Support\nOnly 41% of adolescents with a mental health disorder receive treatment\, highlighting the importance of accessible tools and preventative education. \nSleep\nThe CDC reports 73% of high school students do not get the recommended 8–10 hours of sleep\, which impacts mood\, concentration\, and mental health. \nPhysical Activity\nOnly 24% of teens meet the recommended 60 minutes of daily physical activity. \nScreen Time\nTeens average over 7 hours of entertainment screen time daily\, which correlates with sleep disruption and decreased physical activity. \nSocial Media Pressure\nA 2023 Pew Research Center study found that 46% of teens feel overwhelmed by the pressure to always be online\, and 38% report feeling judged on social media. \nNutrition & Eating Habits\nLess than 10% of adolescents eat the recommended daily fruits and vegetables\, and skipping meals is common — both of which impact energy and focus. \nMindfulness Practices\nStudies show mindfulness-based programs can reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression in 70–80% of participants. \nWhat Teens Will Leave With\nBy the end of camp\, participants will have: \n✔ Practical strategies to manage stress and overwhelm\n✔ A personal toolkit of self-care practices they enjoy\n✔ Greater awareness of their emotional and physical needs\n✔ Creative ways to express and process feelings\n✔ Increased confidence in taking care of themselves \nMost importantly\, they will experience that self-care is not selfish — it’s a life skill. \nAbout the Facilitator\nThis camp is hosted by Dr. Myka Hanson\, founder of Teen Forward\, who has 30 years of experience working with teens and holds a PhD in Depth Psychology and Somatic Studies. \nTeen Forward programs focus on helping young people build self-awareness\, resilience\, and confidence as they grow into adulthood. \nSpace Is Limited\nTo maintain a supportive and personalized environment\, space is limited. \nReserve your teen’s spot today.
